Internet Explorer 11 was just launched with Windows 8.1. It has been available as a Release Preview on Windows 7 for a while, but now Microsoft is ready to roll out the final version to all users globally.

We often harp on about Chrome and Firefox, but you may be surprised to know that IE11 is a mature, modern web browser. Microsoft has made some radical changes under the hood, with the end result being that IE11 is 30% faster than other browsers out there.

“IE11 on Windows 7 improves performance across the board with faster page loading, faster interactivity, and faster JavaScript performance, while reducing CPU usage and improving battery life on mobile PCs,” Microsoft said in a blog post.

Javascript performance has also got a boost. On Windows 7, Microsoft claims IE11 is 9% faster than IE10.

Microsoft has also released three demo tools—EtchMark, Popcorn test drive and World Data—to let users check out the improvements in HTML5, Javascript and how developers can use the new APIs, respectively. You can find all these and many more demos on the IE Test Drive site.

IE11 for Windows 7 is available for free download worldwide in 95 languages. It will automatically be updated for Windows 7 users in the coming weeks. Once you get it, make IE11 work for you with these great tips.
